Happy 2015!

We are excited to be returning to work on Monday.  Our kinders don't come in until Wednesday, but we are ready to see their faces and start back with our daily routines.  We have been working hard to create tools that will help us prepare them for first grade…and we've decided to share two of our ActivInspire flip charts- for FREE!

We've Been BEARY Busy...

It's been FOREVER since we've posted.  It's funny how sometimes a classroom can fill up your whole plate.  Blogging gets lost in the middle of fundraisers, field trips, holidays, report cards, assessments, Red Ribbon Week…and teaching 18 kindergarteners!  

Since our last post we've finished learning all letters, tons of sight words, and are even tackling addition and subtraction.  Our kinders are amazing us with what they have mastered.  

We are super thankful for the cooler weather and the inspiring fall colors.  One of our favorite stories is Karma Wilson's Bear Snores On.  We love teaching our students basic comprehension skills through her "Bear" series.  We have transitioned into our Thanksgiving unit, using her Bear Gives Thanks book.  Our kiddos loved the cute characters and the heartwarming stories about Bear and his friends.  This year we created a Math and Literacy unit to pair with this class favorite.

"Wildly" Exciting!

We are just so excited!  We have 100 followers on TPT.   That is such a huge milestone for us!!!  To celebrate, we are giving away our "Wild Things" mini unit. 

 

 

"Batty" About Homecoming

Last Friday was our school's homecoming.  We were so excited to be able to participate in our coummunity's festivities!  In the morning, football players and cheerleaders came from the high school to read in elementary classrooms.  Throughout the day, we made hats and signs in preperation for the big parade, which our students absolutely loved. 

Who doesn't love to catch beads and candy?? :)

Oh Lovely Learning!

September has come and almost gone, and we have been hard at work!  Is amazing how much a month can change a Kindergartener. From reading, to writing, to math- they have shown so much improvement in such a short time! 

This week, we dove into farm with Mrs. Wishy-Washy.  We have been hitting letter names, sounds, blend ladders, beginning sounds, and sight words hard; and they are so excited about learning how to read this year.  

 

 

 

We also have started our first round of (very guided) non-ficition research!

Today is Homecoming!  Football players and cheerleaders are coming to read, and our Kinders are beyond excited!

For Pete's Sake, It's All Good

  

Our kids love Pete.  Actually, they don't just love him, they are CRAZY for Pete!  We have been doing all sorts of fun Pete activities these past two weeks!  Right now, Scholastic has three Pete the Cat books, WITH the CD, for only $12!
