OMG! In years past, we had a fire truck come visit. That was a huge hit with the kids! We can't wait to see pictures of your fire week activities!
DeleteThis would be great! My favorite community helper activity is to organize a vehicle day in my school's parking lot. I invite different companies to bring the vehicle they use for their job so that students can learn about the jobs and the vehicles at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea, Lori! That sound like so much fun! We're sure your kids LOVE that! We would love to see pictures of your school's "Vehicle Day."
DeleteI usually do this unit with a tub of books from our library. I really need some tpt help with community! I can't wait to check these units out.
ReplyDeleteWe have not yet found a ton of community helper books that we love. We are on the look out for some. If you have any great books that you use, please share with us!
DeleteMy favorite community helpers activity is during fire safety week. My teammate's husband is a fire fighter so he comes in and talks to the kids about fire and we do some other activities too :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome! Do you think he could drive to Alabama to come visit us? :) All kidding aside, what a fun activity! We bet the kids are in awe of a real firefighter.
DeleteI incorporate community helpers with my reading street cindyp94@optonline.net
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Cindy! We used Reading Street a few years ago and there were a ton of great places to incorporate community helpers with that series. We hope you find these activities beneficial in your classroom!
