Bucket List: Tell All Tuesday

We are back again with another installment of "Tell All Tuesday!"

This week, we thought it would be easy to write, but when we sat down to make our list, it was a lot harder than we realized! However, we had a marvelous time coming up with crazy things to put on our Bucket List!  We chose to go with a few things that were actually attainable for us.

Sadly, we are not attending the Vegas Conference this year.  We had high hopes last year of being able to attend. However, since we both have a bun in the oven, we just won't be making it this year. There's always next year... haha

Maternity leave is a scary thing.  This is probably our biggest challenge.  One of the very few things we have in common is our Type A personalities.  So, the though of relinquishing control of our classrooms to a stranger is slightly terrifying.  Ok, lets be real, it's really terrifying! We both hope to survive this gracefully, and to NOT come to our classrooms until our leave is over.  Hold your breath on that one... (insert wicked laugh)

We are so blessed to work in a county who is beginning to see the value in developmentally appropriate practices.  We feel like we had, as a system, veered away from that...and are now excited that the pendulum is swinging back the other way. We are hoping that within the next few years, we have the opportunity to teach side by side in a "Co-Teaching" environment. We will keep you updated!

Thank you again to MyDayinK and TeachTalkInspire for putting together another fun "Tell All Tuesday!"

    1. Erin, we loved reading your post. We noticed that you are interested in attending the WBT conference next year. We went last year and learned SO, SO much! We had planned to attend this summer's conference, but couldn't make such a long trip, being pregnant! We are hoping to attend next year's conference, too! Also, we loved your goal to grow your TPT store. We wish you all the best in achieving all of your goals. We hope to meet up with you next summer, at any (or all) of the conferences.

      Much love,
      Ashley and Brooklynn

  3. Great list! I too am on board with Vegas 2016. Do we need to start a Go Fund Me account or something? Let's get on that.
And congrats on your babies!! My "baby" is starting high school in the fall :(

    Great read!

  4. I'm afraid so, Jessica! A GoFundMe account may be the only way we get to attend! HA! (Or, we are going to have to sell WAY more products in our TPT store!) Thank you so much for the well wishes on our pregnancies. We are very excited…and, a little apprehensive (if we are being honest)! We look forward to meeting up with you next summer! And, we can't believe your baby is starting HS. How exciting…and nerve-wracking, too! Best of luck to him/her, and to you! We can't imagine what it is like to parent a high schooler. Thank you for stopping by our little blog and taking time to comment and share with us.

    Much love,
    Ashley and Brooklynn

  5. I split a summer school teaching assignment this year, and can hardly handle not "checking in," so I can only imagine being gone for maternity leave! What a great time in your lives, though! Great goals! Co-teaching seems like a good solution to allow for more time at home with your babies! Wish you were going to Vegas, but hoping you'll be there next year!

  6. I didn't start teaching until my youngest was in preschool, so maternity leave is something I've never had to navigate. One of the teachers at our school skyped with her class during maternity leave. She had the class ask her five questions and then she asked five. It was an interesting way to stay connected during her absence.
I hope pregnancy and motherhood are joyful for you, and I'm sure you'll find the balance between being mommy and teacher! I would love to be in a co-teaching setup, too. Isn't it lovely to be able to see the move toward developmentally appropriate practice? Keep asking for it, you never know when they might say yes!

    1. Skyping is such a great idea! Thank you so much for sharing, Tracy! That is something we will be looking into to ease our leave! And, you are so right! We will keep asking and being hopeful that the best choices possible are being made for our kiddos! Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Congratulations Ashley and Brooklynn on your little bundles of joy! What an exciting time! I love your goals and share some very similar ones! I would LOVE to go to Vegas next summer and am going to work hard to make that dream come true. If we all motivate each other we can all get there together! I just finished my first year co-teaching and it was a wonderful experience. My co-teacher and I are staying together next year and I'm so thankful for the chance to work with her again. I hope that you two will be able to have that experience soon. Thank you so much for linking up with us! I always enjoy reading your posts.

    1. Jayme, thank you so much! We are both so very excited! We would love to be a part of a VEGAS 2016 group, and plan to work hard to get there! Let's make that happen! Should we ever get the chance to co-teach, we will be hitting you up for some ideas! Thanks so much for putting this linky together! We enjoy it so much!

  8. Ashley and Brooklynn- I am in the same boat with you!! I wanted to go to the conference this year but have a bun in the oven as well so couldn't attend right now! I am TERRIFIED of maternity leave. I always hate leaving my kiddos with a sub even for a day so the idea of leaving them for weeks is scary! I'll pass on what everyone has said to me about it though-once you hold your baby the first time, you won't worry one bit about what is going on in your classroom because you will want to soak up every second of your babe! (I am optimistically choosing to believe that even though my OCD instincts tell me I'll still have my class on the brain half the time!)
I had fun reading your blog-glad I found you!

  9. That is so fun that the two of you are expecting at the same time and can go through it together. How exciting! It is always hard to leave the classroom in fear of the unknown, but once you have your babies you will not even think twice about school. ;) Enjoy this special time. I also hope to go to the conference next year! I hope we can all go and finally meet up, that would be fun! Thank you for taking the time to link up with us and sharing your bucket list!
